Filters are systems and components used to remove substances including, dust, dirt and electronic signals. Filters are typically used for filtering air, gases and fluids. Whether they’re used in a swimming pool or loading van, filters can help both the object and user to have a clean, full operating experience.

Let’s take a look at the most common filter types and what each of them is used for.

Air filters

An air filter is a system primarily used to remove particles from the air as they pass through the mechanisms involved. Air filters are used in systems that require particulate-free air such as cars, transport, air conditioning systems and other user-friendly systems. These filters are also used to clean the air before releasing it into the environment, removing elements such as dust, fumes, oils and bacteria.

An air filter system typically consists of a filter segment and the housing. This filter is constructed in different shapes and designed for specific applications such as engines, cleaning rooms or furnaces.

Fuel filters

Fuel Filters are appliances that remove unwanted materials as the fuel passes through the surrounding systems. Fuel filters are used primarily to filter debris or undesirable substances in order to protect the equipment and deliver greater performance. The filters are usually created for a certain application, for example, a car engine or aircraft. These filters are available in an assortment of shapes and sizes in order to serve different appliances.

Hydraulic Filters

Hydraulic Filters are devices that remove pollutants from hydraulic fluids and may include entire systems or a replacement part. Typical specifications include the filter type, filter material, and physical measurements. Hydraulic filters are used for filtering pollutants such as debris, and contaminants or toxins. Depending on the application, this filter type may require additional materials or a construction type.

engine oil by Filter Services

Oil filters

An oil filter is the part of a car’s engine that filters the oil and is typically the size of a standard tin. The filter’s job is to remove all impurities or polluting bodies from the engine oil. When these particles enter the oil stream, they can rub against pieces of machinery, causing quicker wear and tear. This could not only have implications on the engine and car’s performance but can also have negative safety implications.

Coolant filters

Coolant filters mechanically filter the coolant through a product, withdrawing impurities such as sand, rust and any harmful particles suspended in the cooling system. The coolant filter also prepares the coolant by softening the water. This minimises scale deposits, prevents rust and creates a smoother surface.

pollen by Filter Services

Pollen filters

A pollen filter has similarities with an air filter, but instead, helps to protect your vehicle’s interior by filtering any air flowing through the air vents. By trapping particles such as pollen, dust, bacteria, and engine gases, a pollen filter helps to make your car a healthier place for the user specifically.
